Rally ace Jas Mangat wins Bushenyi tribute event

National Rally Champion Jas Mangat is the winner of Bushenyi rally held Saturday in commemoration of the late champion Charles Muhangi.

Muhangi, a famous motorsport driver was on Thursday 6th December 2018, found dead in bed by his teenage son at around 7:30 am at his home in Lower Mawanga in Buziga, Makindye Division.

The commemorative rally was held at Bushenyi district playgrounds in Bushenyi district, the home district late Muhangi.

Mangat came ahead of big names like Arthur Blick, Duncan Mubiru, and Hassan Alwi, in the second, third and fourth place, respectively.

Famous motorsport drivers Ronald Ssebuguzi and Susan Muwonge came in the fifth and seventh positions, respectively.

Muwonge aka Super Lady is the 2018 National Rally Champion.

Kills boda cyclist

On Sunday, Mangat took part in the Mbarara rally where he killed a boda boda cyclist in Rubindi town along Ibanda road and injured a passenger.

The deceased is Tumusiime Benson, 20, a resident of Nyatungu Karuro, Rubindi town council while the injured is Kabugumira Innocent, a resident of Kigoro Rwamuhingi Rubindi town council.

Mangat chose to pull out of the title chase with just days to the 2018 season finale in Mbale.

He has two wins from Mbarara and Jinja rally as well as a second position from Pearl rally.

Two DNFs from Masaka and Hoima and an absentia in Fort Portal rally.

In 2018, the Pili Pili Rally Team driver was fighting for his fourth NRC title which was taken by Muwonge.
