Bobi Wine cites David-Goliath analogy in fight with Museveni

Bobi Wine

Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine in his fight against President Museveni has cited the analogy of the biblical David and how he slew the giant Goliath.

David, a mere weak shepherd used a sling shot to kill the undefeated giant Philistine warrior, Goliath, giving Israelites a victory they never anticipated.

“I love to draw inspiration from Holy books. When you open your Bible on a Sunday morning and come across this- 1 Samuel 17:45-51,” Bobi Wine said on Sunday.

He quoted David telling Goliath, “You come against me with spear, javelin and sword, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I will strike you down.”

“Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

According to the biblical story, as Goliath moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.

Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead.

The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. So David triumphed over Goliath with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine.

David ran and stood over him. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.

“Friends, our stone could be that small thing called the National ID.”

Bobi Wine who recently declared his intentions to run against President Museveni in 2021, says the national ID is his way out.

He urged Ugandans to register for the national ID so that by the time of elections, they are all able to vote.

He said by all Ugandans voting, that is the only way out and the only method of overwhelming Museveni and driving him out of power.
