Boda boda 2010 leader Abdullah Kitata defence hearing kicked off Monday morning at Makindye based General Court Martial.
Prosecution alleges that on January 21, 2018, in Wakaliga, Rubaga Division, Kitatta, Sowali Ngobi and Ibrahim Sekajja were found in unlawful possession of a sub-machine gun rifle with police registration numbers.
Abdullah Kitata was also found with a pistol – without a valid firearm license contrary to Section 3 and section 2 of the Fire Arms Act.
In his defence, Kitata told the army court that he has never been a member of the notorious boda boda gang that terrorised Kampala under the guidance of former police chief Kale Kayihura.
“I have never been a member of Boda Boda 2010,” Kitata told court.
Kitata said he has two offices in Rubaga division which do other things and are not connected to Boda Boda 2010.
He said one of the offices located at Balintuma Road in Mengo is owned by National Resistance Movemement [NRM] party].
The second one located at Movit Building in Nateete belongs to National Union of Drivers Cyclists and Allied Workers Association.
He claimed Boda Boda 2010 is headed by a one Joel Kibirige who is among his accomplices.
