Police says Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is free to entertain Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Mwenda Mutebi II and his subjects during the Enkuuka y’Omwaka concert to be held in Lubiri palace Mengo.
Police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima, told press on Friday that contrary to reports, police had not instructed Enkuuka organisers to remove Bobi Wine from the list of musicians.
The organisers of Buganda’s end of year celebrations, Enkuuka, announced they had banned the colour red for anyone intending to partake in the event. The events manager said the colour represents chaos to security agencies yet the event is about the Kabaka.
The organisers also confirmed that Bobi Wine will participate in the event not as a politician but as a musician.
The cancellation of Bobi Wine’s show at One Love Beach by police was another big blow to his business.
He has, however, vowed not to give up until he is able to fully exercise his rights to practice his profession regardless of the frustration from the state.
“As far as I know, no one from Police has stopped Bobi Wine from performing at Enkuuka,” Kayima said at a press conference.
He added: “If there is any change in communication we shall inform you. But at this time no one has blocked Bobi Wine from going to Enkuuka.”
