A giveaway ceremony of Rwanda President Paul Kagame’s daughter is currently underway in the eastern province of the small east African nation.
An invitation that edge.ug acquired indicates the ceremony held at Kagame’s plush upcountry home kicked off at 2pm Friday December 28, 2018.
“The family of President Paul Kagame cordially invites you to the giveaway ceremony of their daughter Ange I Kagame on 28th 12 2008 at 14:00 hours at their home in Ntebe,” reads the invitation.
Ange, 25, is being given away to Bertrand Ndengeyingoma, an architect.
A picture edge.ug acquired shows Bertrand’s entourage heading for Kagame’s home near Lake Muhazi in the Eastern province, Kayonza district, Gahini sector.
An urban planner, Bertrand has been living in America where he studied architecture and currently works in Bank of Rwanda.
The wedding of the pair is expected to take place tomorrow, Saturday December 29.
Who is Bertrand?
Bertrand was named in the notorious Panama papers –11.5 million leaked documents that detail financial and attorney–client information for more than 214,488 offshore entities—early this year.
Among the items leaked that the Bertrand family owns included; planes and how the government of Rwanda would hire Kagame’s plane for Billy to travel.
The papers also listed an extensive record of his riches with most family properties registered in his names.
Bertrand featured in tycoons stashing money in foreign accounts alongside Gen Ndahiro Emmanuel Ndahiro, the chief of the intelligence agency of Rwanda until 2011.
His journey started right from Rwanda, at the Belgian School of Kigali, where he studied for thirteen years.
It was at the Belgian School of Kigali that he fell in love with the science discipline that would form a firm foundation for his dream university course.
He has been pursuing a Master’s degree in Architecture.
Bertrand Ndengeyingoma is a brother to Belise Kariza who works with RDB; children to Mzee Cyrille Ndengeyingoma a businessman known in Kigali as Mzee Cyrille.
His bride, Ange, is the second child and only daughter of Paul Kagame, current president of Rwanda.
She has been involved in causes that include women’s empowerment, education, and poverty eradication, as well as mass vaccination campaigns.
As the first daughter of the president, she holds both formal and informal power and influence.
Kagame completed her education abroad and was absent from the public eye for most of her childhood due to security and privacy reasons.
She attended Dana Hall School, a private preparatory school located in Wellesley, Massachusetts in the United States.
She attends Smith College where she majors in Political Science with a minor in African studies.
Ange can speak three languages, English, Kinyarwanda, and French.
In 2014, Kagame accompanied her father to the White House for a dinner hosted by President Barack Obama.
The dinner was part of the three-day-long United States–Africa Leaders Summit held in August of that year, at which the leaders of the majority of African countries met to discuss trade, investment and security of the continent.
The second oldest child with three other siblings, Ivan Cyomoro, Ian Kagame, and Brian Kagame, Ange is a basketball and football fan, and follows the Boston Celtics and Arsenal.
