Jane Akumu, the wife Aswa County MP, Okumu Ronald Reagan, says the legislator is currently undergoing physiotherapy over back pain.
The Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] deputy president has for the past one week received treatment at Kampala international hospital.
The pain, according to Akumu, is as a result of the 2006 accident he was involved in along Gulu-Kampala Highway.
Akumu said the accident affected her husband’s back bone which keeps forcing it to squeeze the nervous system.
“For now, we will keep visiting the hospital. If there is no improvement after two weeks, we will be forced to take Okumu for surgery outside the country,” Akumu said.
“We just hope and believes his condition improves otherwise we are praying so that no surgery is done on him,” she added.
The Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Hon Betty Aol Ocan, told edge.ug on Monday that Okumu’s pain returned after a recent visit to China with a delegation of Ugandan MPs where he ended up climbing a hill.
She said while in China, Okumu was given a massage but it didn’t help. He was advised to try therapy as well as undergo a surgery.
