Police on Saturday night reportedly forcefully drove Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s team out of Jinja town, leaving him stranded in a hotel.
“The police has ordered my team out of Jinja town on gun-point, and escorted them up to Lugazi,” Bobi Wine said in a statement.
“They have beaten some of them, dragged them onto police pick-up cars and driven them to unknown destinations for no offence whatsoever.”
Earlier in the evening, police raided a City Hotel and arrested members of Bobi Wine’s team ahead of a show at Queens Palace in Jinja town.
The show featured Queen Sheebah Karungi, David Lutalo, Eddy Wizzy, Gravity Omutujju, Nubian Li, among others.
Police surrounded the hotel and placed it under siege, denying Bobi Wine the right to perform on stage.
He said police had already cleared the show but later allowed the other musicians to perform, Bobi Wine excluded.
“Meanwhile, I am still in Jinja town. The police are looking for me everywhere. They have even blocked some roads in search for me!”
He added: “I will try not to avail myself to them- Arua is still fresh in our minds, and we know what they can do.”
In Arua, Bobi Wine was arrested, beaten and tortured by military for allegedly stoning President Museveni’s car.
He was slapped with treason charges which he is still battling in court.
“But this injustice must end and we must put it to an end by ourselves. No one else will do it for us.”
