“It is so sad, so terrible. The whole nation has lost,” Mary Karooro Okurut, Minister in charge of general duties has expressed her sorrow at the passing of former rally driver, Charles Muhangi.
At the time of death, Muhangi’s wife had reportedly gone to school to pick one of her children, who were breaking off for holidays.
Muhangi, the owner of Horizon buses, was found dead in his bed at his house in Buziga.
The area chairman of the area, Robert Bwire, told New Vision he received a call from Muhangi’s children at around 8:50am.
Their father was “not feeling well”, they told him on phone.
According to Bwire, when the medic arrived at the house, he found Muhangi lying in bed, already dead.
One of his close friends, Salim Uhuru says they were with him a Guvnor last night up to 3am.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman, Luke Owoyesigire, said the body would be taken to Mulago referral hospital for post-mortem.
Born in Igara, Sheema District, Muhangi came to light in the 1990s when he won the Africa Rally Championship.
