Airtel Uganda this morning with its brand ambassador and BET award winner, Eddy Kenzo, partnered to officially announce the “10-year Anniversary Concert of Eddy Kenzo”.
Also called the “10 years of Eddy Kenzo Concert” is a celebration of Eddy Kenzo’s 10 Years of stardom and his continued contribution to the Ugandan Music Industry.
This milestone will be celebrated in a VIP concert on 04th January 2019 at Kampala Serena Hotel.
“We are proud of what you have done not only as our brand ambassador but also as musician,” said Noela Byuma, Airtel Brand Strategy Manager.
She added: “As a main sponsor, we are invested in ensuring that the public has the best experience during this big event.”
Kenzo in turn said: “As I celebrate 10 years of my musical career, my path has been filled with success but it has come with bumps.”
He added: “I would like to thank Airtel for all the support they have given me since 2010.”
Edrisa Musuuza, known professionally by his stage name Eddy Kenzo, is a Ugandan artist best known for his 2014 song “Sitya Loss”.
Kenzo was born in Masaka, a town in the central region of Uganda. He lost his mother at age 5, after which he lived a street life for 13 years.
After high school, he adopted the stage name Eddy Kenzo and began writing music.
In 2008, he was featured in the popular song Yanimba by Mikie Wine.
His breakthrough 2010 song, Stamina, was met with critical acclaim and was used as a theme song for Yoweri Museveni’s presidential campaign.
He released the album Ogenda Kunzisa in 2012.
One year later, he released Kamunguluze and toured the United States.
The song Sitya Loss became his most popular song to date, and a video of the Ugandan children Triplets Ghetto Kids dancing to the song went viral. Its success led to the launching of a petition to have the dancing children appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Kenzo released the album Sitya Loss in May 2014.
Eddy Kenzo has one daughter, Maya Musuuza Mirembe born 2011, from a previous relationship with Tracy Nabatanzi.
Kenzo retained custody of his daughter after the split.
In 2014, Kenzo had another daughter Aamaal Musuuza through a relation with Rema Namakula his current girlfriend.
He became the first Ugandan to win the Black Entertainment TV [BET] award.
