Former First Lady Miria Kalule Obote is currently in intensive care after being hospitalised.
Lira Municipality Member of Parliament Jimmy James Akena says his mother was hospitalised with a chest infection.
In a statement, Akena, the son of late President Milton Obote said the 82-year-old was first admitted on November 4.
She was shifted to a “high dependence unit” at medical facility in Kampala.
“The medical team [is] now assessing the possibility of her suffering from viral pneumonia and such that last night, November 9, she was moved to the High Dependency Unit for closer monitoring,” Akena said.
He added: “The medical team is working competently towards restoring her good health…we will not be able to host the Milton Obote Memorial Lecture earlier scheduled for November 18.”
Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah, and the deputy secretary general of the ruling National Resistance Movement, Richard Todwong are among those who have reached out to the family, wishing Miria a speedy recovery.
