Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian West are currently lodged at Chobe Safari Lodge, a five-star luxury resort in north western Uganda, where he is recording a new album “Yandhi”.
They arrived in the country on Friday October 12, with a huge entourage and were taken to Murchison Falls National Park where they will stay until October 19.
Kanye has since contracted a local production music label Swangz Avenue to aid in recording the audio as well as shooting the videos.
The State Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities in Uganda, Hon Godfrey Ssuubi Kiwanda, believes the visit will market Uganda as the Pearl of Africa.
“We welcome the Hip-hop star to Uganda. He has come at a time when we need him most. Uganda is gifted by nature however few people out there know about us Kanye West’s coming to Uganda shall help promote the Pearl of Africa,” Kiwanda said.
The minister of International Affairs, Oryem Henry Okello, believes the country is having the best of weeks.
“This week: -American Rapper Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and rapper Big Sean came to Uganda on a one week holidays -Uganda Cranes beat Lesotho 3:0 in the AFCON20 –Major Lazer performed at a concert to hundreds of Ugandans Why are not celebrating our country?” Oryem tweeted.
This was after Kanye and his team made a stopover during a game drive as they continue to enjoy the scenery of Murchison Falls National Park.
Molly Kamukama, the Principal Private Secretary to HE President of the republic of Uganda, said the visit of Kanye and Kim Kardashian West to Uganda “is not only an affirmation of Uganda’s rich diversity of fauna and flora, it is also a validation of government’s efforts to position Uganda as the Prime holiday destination for tourists”.
Uganda Tourism board observed: “The Kingdom of Uganda is a fairy tale. The scenery is different, the climate is different and most of all, the people are different from anything elsewhere to be seen in the whole range of Africa…what message I bring back? Concentrate on Uganda.”
Over the weekend, Kanye began live-streaming on his Ye twitter handle a recording of the upcoming song.

He was seated on a black leather sofa inside a dome, and wearing black shorts, orange t-shirt and wrapped in Uganda national flag.
He was donning dark shades and a cap stripped in Uganda national colours.
Uganda earns $1.2b (Shs5 trillion) from the tourism.
