Singer Catherine Kusasira says widows of Yasin Kawuma, the fallen driver of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine have finally accepted the money donated by President Museveni.
Kawuma was killed on the eve of the violent Arua Municipality by-election by security forces who shot at Mr Kyagulanyi’s vehicle.
On Sunday, the family rejected the Shs20m when Kusasira delivered it in Lusanja, saying they preferred justice.
Kusasira had explained that her motive was not political but that she was touched by the family situation.
“No matter the differences, I minded more about the children and school status because as a parent too, the president was willing to help beyond even Shs20 million,” she said in the post on her Facebook page.
On Monday, the four widows and Yasin’s father travelled to Makindye based Calendar Rest House where they accepted the money.
“They came today. They called me and came to Calendar. I gave them their money,” Kusasira told edge.ug.
She added: “They have picked their money. They have a lot of problems and said they could not refuse the money. I feel good about it.”
Kusasira said she would also deliver money to the father of the former Buyende District Police Commander Mohammad Kirumira, who was killed early this month.
