The Uganda police force has arrested its own officers for assaulting a suspect who was found wearing a T-shirt written on “People Power” in support of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
The video appeared at the close of last week showing officers from Kajjansi police station kicking and slapping a suspect.
Deputy Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said four officers have been arrested and detained at Kajjansi police station.
They are; Samuel Wangubo, Denis Oguma, James Kayenga and Denis Namugongo who are now held for misconduct.
Police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima, had earlier promised that those involved would be punished individually.
Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola, had earlier warned police officers against torturing suspects.
When we acuse the state of political persecution, some claim it’s politicking. In this video shot by a vigilant Ugandan, a man already in custody’s tortured by uniformed officers.
