First son Muhoozi Kainerugaba was the first person to wish his father and President Museveni a blessed 74th birthday today September 15, 2018.
“Happy birthday to Mzee wa kazi. Almighty God continue to richly bless you,” said Muhoozi, a Major General in UPDF and Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations.
Born Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on 15 September 1944 (age 74) in Ntungamo, Uganda, the chairman of National Resistance Movement is also husband to Janet Kainembabazi (1973–present).
His children include; Muhoozi, Natasha, Patience and Diana.
An alumnus of Alma mater University of Dar es Salaam, Museveni has been the President of Uganda since 1986.
Museveni was involved in rebellions that toppled Ugandan leaders Idi Amin (1971–79) and Milton Obote (1980–85).

In the mid to late 1990s, Museveni was celebrated by the West as part of a new generation of African leaders.
During Museveni’s presidency, Uganda has experienced relative stability and economic growth.
His presidency has been marred, however, by involvement in the civil war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other Great Lakes region conflicts; the rebellion in Northern Uganda by the Lord’s Resistance Army which caused a drastic humanitarian emergency; and the suppression of political opposition and constitutional amendments scrapping presidential term limits (2005) and the presidential age limit (2017), thus enabling extension of his rule.
These have been a concern to domestic and foreign commentators.
He is also expected to address the nation this evening on matters of security affecting the country.
Last year, parliament voted to remove age limit which would have restricted Museveni from running for presidency after next year when he turns 75.
Even an appeal by members of opposition and citizens in Mbale constitutional court did not help the situation. The president will run for another term in 2021 elections.
