Police on Thursday raided halls of residence at Makerere university and arrested more students accused of activism.

Makerere LCV councillor Doreen Nyanjura said Rugumayo Ka Kusemererwa, Musiri David and Mumbere Frank were arrested this afternoon and first detained at Makerere University police station.

“You increase tuition, suspend them illegally and then imprison them, Is this not too much torture,” the FDC preacher lashed out.

Police also broke into a one Ambrose’s room, a student and resident of Nkrumah hall.

Ambrose is in detention at CPS, Musiri is at Mulago police station, Bwambale Frank is at Wandegeya police station but Rugumayo can’t be traced, Nyanjura narrated.

She said in a period of two weeks, Rugumayo has been arrested twice.

“These are innocent fellas whose only crime is being affiliated to opposition political parties. Even when you don’t say anything, if you are a renown activist; be assured of being arrested and suspended from the University!”

She added: “I am tired of merely criticising the dictatorial actions of the powers that be; I am finalising my mobilisation against such injustices and we are acting soon.”

Earlier, students were also arrested for donning red “M7 Must GO” t-shirts. They were later released on police bond.
