Mariam Kirumira is alive

Police has clarified that the woman who was killed with former Buyende DPC Muhammad Kirumira was not his wife, Mariam Kirumira.

“We have since established that the lady assassinated along with our officer, ASP Muhammad Kirumira is not his wife,” said police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima.

“The wife wasn’t with him at the time. We have identified the lady & interacted with her family. We shall withhold releasing her name in the meantime,” Kayima added.

The lady who was identified as Resty Nalinya too succumbed to bullet wounds and was pronounced dead on arrival at Rubaga Hospital.

The assassination of ASP Kirumira happened Saturday night at Bulenga near his home at around 9:00pm.

He was driving his personal vehicle which is still at the scene of crime at Bulenga.

“We condemn these heinous criminal acts and promise to hunt down these merciless criminals and bring them to book. May they Rest In Peace,” police said.

In February this year, Mariam Kirumira gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.

Kirumira’s father named the baby Kaweesi [after fallen police spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi] as ordered by the absent father who was under incarceration in Nalufenya detention facility in Jinja.

Mariam was attacked and nearly lost the baby while visiting him at Railway Police Detention.
