The reason is still unknown but his security team says it is part of the investigations.

Police and UPDF deployed and cordoned off the scene in Bulenga Wakiso district before the president’s arrival.

The officers were forced to fire live bullets in the air to disperse the crowd around Kirumira’s car.

Two journalists (NBS & BBS) were injured in the chaos and rushed to the hospital bleeding.

The Police Forensics team examined Muhammed Kirumira’s car.

Eye witnesses say the gunmen riding on two motorcycles without number plates shot the car tyres first.

The assailants shot Kirumira with the unidentified woman he was driving with in his Toyota Corona vehicle number UAJ 228V on Saturday night along Kampala Mityana Road.

This comes two months after former Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga driving with his brother Saidi Kongo were also assassinated.

In March last year, Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi was also killed by gunmen moments after leaving his home in Kulambiro near Kampala.

His bodyguard Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Mambewa were also killed.
