Chaotic scenes were recorded in Mpambirwe village, Mpigi district on Sunday afternoon when angry mourners turned chaotic at the burial of slain police chief Muhammad Kirumira.
People forcefully chased away Internal Affairs minister Jeje Odongo and Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima.
Mourners started by heckling Jeje at the funeral rites. They then demanded all police officers leave including those guarding the Internal Affairs minister.
Police officers were stoned and forced to leave the venue.
Mourners pelted stones at Jeje Odongo as the situation turned more volatile.
While mourners had reluctantly accepted Jeje to join them, they were incensed when police spokesperson Emilian Kayima made an appearance.
Opposition figure Kizza Besigye arrived to wild cheers while Jeje was on his way back to Kampala after being chased by mourners.
Prayers for the late were held at old Kampala Mosque before the body was taken to his ancestral home in Mpambire Mpigi district.
