UJA President Kazibwe talks to press

Bashir Kazibwe Mbaziira is the new President of the Uganda Journalists Association [UJA] after winning a hotly-contested election.

Bukedde Fm’s Kazibwe won with 223 votes and his competitor Abubaker Lubowa with 214 votes.

Kazibwe, the founder of Nyce Radio-Tuli Waka, replaces Robert Kagoro who has been at the helm since 2014.

Kazibwe promised to register all journalists in Uganda in his first 100 days in office, help them train in financial literacy and advocate for their rights.

During the elections that took place at the Gaddaffi Mosque in Kampala, the Association also elected new leaders in other positions.
