Missing Kyadondo East MP Bobi Wine’s bodyguard Eddy Ssebuufu aka Eddie Mutwe is being held at Jinja Road Police Station.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Lucas Owoyesigire, confirmed the development to edge.ug on Friday evening.
“He is there for safe custody,” Owoyesigire told edge.ug, referring us to CID spokesperson, Vincent Ssekate, for more details.
Ssekate instead told us he was not aware referring us to police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima.
Kayima told us he too was not aware and referred us back to Owoyesigire. He, however, promised to find out later.
Bobi Wine’s handlers said Mutwe was produced by CMI at Jinja road police station on charges of treason.
“He is bruised on both hands and legs and was blind folded all the days of his kidnap.”
On Thursday, High Court in Kampala ordered Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI), the Attorney General and the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) to immediately produce Eddie Mutwe in court.
The court order followed a habeas corpus application that was made in court seeking a person under detention to be brought before a judge or magistrate especially to secure that person’s release from unjustified incarceration.
Mutwe was reportedly arrested by officers from Special Forces Command [SFC] on August 25 at Semakokiro Plaza in Kamyokya, Kampala.
His lawyer Anthony Kusingura of Kiiza Mugisha Advocates petitioned the High Court to order CMI and the Attorney General to produce him in court immediately.
Mutwe’s lawyer told court that his client has been detained for more than 48 hours mandatory in the constitution for one to be produced in court.
