Global Peace Foundation Activist and former UBC journalist Gilbert Baguma 33, is still missing days after the pre-election Violence that rocked Arua Municipality a few days ago.
Baguma, who is one of the few journalists linked to the Global Peace Foundation under his Speak Up for the youth Project, are said to have been the underground forces canvassing for votes for Kasiano Wadri with secondment by the now vocal People Power pressure group boss Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi.
It is said that Baguma and his team, had prior to the melee been on the ground overseeing the campaigns of Wadri through the local radio and social media in the contested area.
Wadri, Kyagulanyi among several other top anti-government politicians ended up being arrested and incarcerated for several capital offences.
Though Wadri won the election, he and his team that had been arrested by joint operations of the Police and other auxiliary forces were bailed and are still fighting the same cases in Court.
It is reported that during the incident, Baguma was one of the few lucky campaigners of the camp that managed to escape and has since 23 August 2018 gone missing.
His family’s efforts to contact the police and other security agencies have been futile.
