The royal ascort goat race set for 25th August 2018 at its customary venue, Speke Resort Munyonyo on the lakeside shores of Lake Victoria, is attracting revellers from the entire East African region.

As we speak now, party goers are flocking the tickets selling outlets to book their tickets for the Saturday event.

Meanwhile, corporate companies and non-governmental organisations have also booked tables for their employees.

A vote of thanks goes to Dr Sudhir Ruparelia and his empire the Ruparelia group for having revived this famous sport in the great lakes region

A day of splendour, glamour, merry-making and weirdest fashions used to characterise the royal ascot race before it came to a sudden halt in 2012 which is six years ago.

The goat race had carved a special place in the hearts and minds of Ugandans as the most anticipated events on the social calendar.

For the glamor and the pomp about the goat race was analogous to the one of Miss Uganda pageant and pam awards. Pam awards folded and Miss Uganda lost steam.

The big news of the return of this event (the 2018 edition) was announced by Sheena Ruparelia, its coordinator on 13th July 2018 at Speke Apartments, Wampewo Avenue.

Revellers will have to whet with appetite for the event for the fun-filled activities. There will be a food court with up to 10 types of cuisines, a beer garden, cocktail, champagne bars and sport games.

This experience will also entail a silent disco, chill-out lounges or revellers to mingle, and kids play area.

The goat races will entail six races over the course of the day with each race featuring 10 goats! One can as well choose to sponsor a goat.

Socialites who would want to arrive at the event in style, there will be a chartered helicopter offered by one of the sponsors, Kampala Executive Aviation. The event has equally attracted other sponsors such as; Tusker Malt, Sanyu FM, Silk events among others.

While tickets go for Uganda shillings 50,000 for early birds with a special discount offer on selected days where tickets can go for 30k, I struggled to find tickets for 30 of my colleagues that can’t wait for the goat race. Better hurry up for yours.
