Arua mayor car smashed, two detained

As the voting nears an end in Arua Municipality, NRM says opposition goons have attacked Arua Municipality Mayor Al-Hajji Issa Kato Afeku and hit his vehicle using heavy stones.

The Vehicle, Noah Reg. No. UBA 392Z is currently parked at the Central Police Station with two suspects under police custody.

The incident happened around Club Cell. Its side screen got shattered with heavy stones, according Rogers Mulindwa, Senior Manager, Information, Communications & Public Relations (NRM).

These stones are lying down the behind seat. The incident is similar to the way the President’s car screen was smashed on Wednesday.

Deputy Director incharge of Police Operation SCP Nuwagira has identified the two suspects as Ejoyi Martin and Geriga Ismail.

The Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba has called upon the NRM supporters in Arua to remain calm despite the provocation by opposition groups.

She has however urged them to be vigilant and report to the authorities any cases that may result into chaos.
