Anne Kansiime, the Ugandan queen of comedy, says she made huge losses after her Instagram account was hacked.
The hack has seen her lose about a quarter a million followers.
“My Instagram handle was @Kansiime256, I had over 250,000 followers. One moment I got a phone call from a friend asking what’s wrong with my account,” she said on YouTube.
“I get my phone, went to the account and it is showing me zero followers, I am following zero people and even the profile picture is gone. It like they put it back to factory setting.”
She went on: “I couldn’t believe I had zero followers on social media. Right now social media is a big deal when you want to advertise, it’s a big deal when you talking to advertisers for me to lose something like that. I am hurt.”
Kansiime has decided to open a new account and is now urging her followers to join the new one.
Zari too hacked
Hackers also hijacked the Instagram account of socialite Zari Hassan that has 4.2 million followers.
The hackers asked for 4,000 dollars (Shs14m) in form of bit coins before handing it back.
When Zari did not respond positively, they posted porn and Diamond Platnumz’s ex-lover Hamisa Mobetto.
This happened during her daughter, Princess Tiffah’s third birthday.
Inaccessible for close to three hours, her management later recovered her accounts.
“So Mr Hacker has put @zarithebosslady up for sale and he’s selling it for $4000. Here is the thing we will all know it’s Zari’s account if the buyer starts posting his own pictures and it will eventually be put down by Instagram and discredited by 4.2mil of the BossLady fans. The nudes and Porn u said you’d put up, u realized that it actually will do u no good so it was a weak threat. But I can tell you want this $4K so bad, so how about u come get a job by the BossLady and turn on some computers for her every morning when she gets to the office. But from me, my proposal is anyone who brings me this hacker, gets paid the same money the hacker wants!! Who’s up to make some money?’’ Galston posted.
The socialite was in Uganda joining moneybags Bryan White in Arua district for charity activities.
