A mob on Tuesday beat and killed a female pastor at Pagirinya settlement in Adjumani District.
Margaret Bunia, 45, a pastor with Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG), was accused of misleading believers, according to Bob Kagarura, the North West Nile Regional Police Commander.
Bunia, a resident of Panyanga Paubu Village in Laropi Sub-county in Moyo District, served as a councillor representing persons living with disability.
Kagarura told Daily Monitor that the mob accused Bunia of performing miracles which they suspected were driven by witchcraft.
Constant Adrari, the Chairperson Moyo District Disability Persons Union (MODDIPU), told Monitor the deceased has been one of the active councillors in the district and worked for at least two terms.
