Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] candidate for Sheema municipality parliamentary seat, Virginia Plan Mugyenyi, says she is the true winner of the Friday election.

Plan polled 11, 312 votes against technology, science and innovation minister Elioda Tumwesigye’s 13,90 votes. Elioda is now both Sheema North and Sheema municipality MP.

“I take this opportunity to congratulate people of Sheema for the hard fought victory that was later robbed by the state mafias. I, my team & the entire Sheema community, we shall always call it victory,” Plan said in a statement on Saturday.

She said her coordinators, agents and supporters were arrested, people were ferried using government vehicles, voters were paid cash at polling stations, RDCs together with their security officers were deployed, army “goons” in civilian clothes were deployed, people were voted for against their will after bribery.

“It is true that such acts can never sustain a regime for longer several electoral periods. Roots of Change have been placed in Sheema,” she noted.

“I salute all those who accepted and voted for change, though your decision was robbed. I further salute my party FDC for the mega support and effort put in. There is no doubt we have eventually conquered Sheema.”

Plan called upon her supporters to stay calm, and urged her opponents to immediately stop their divisive politics so that Sheema continues to stay united.
