A trailer carrying a Uganda People’s Defence Force [UPDF] battle tank has Saturday evening caught fire on Mityana road.

The truck was derailed at Kigalama on the Mityana- Mubende Road after its rear caught fire.

It was carrying an Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) to Karama Armoured Warfare Training School in Kabamba.

Army spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire, told there are no casualties.

“The situation has been contained,” Karemire said.

Asked whether there were any damages owing to oozing smoke and fire at the scene, Karemire replied: “Not at all.”
