MP Judith Babirye introduces new man, a lawmaker

Buikwe Woman MP and music singer, Hon. Judith Babirye has introduced her fellow Member of Parliament, Hon. Paul Musoke, Buikwe County North MP in a colourful ceremony.

The introduction took place at Country Lake Resort Hotel, Garuga next to Hon former vice president Gilbert Bukenya’s Katomi Kingdom Hotel.

The queen of gospel music in Uganda, will hold their marriage ceremony at a secret location, according to the state-run New Vision.

Provia Nangobi, the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) spokesperson, told vision that Babirye is still registered as married to her first husband, Samuel Niiwo.

The marriage has not been dissolved. Niiwo said court gave them time to reconcile and when it elapsed, the final stages were not performed.

A family lawyer, Eva Kentaro Mugerwa, told the newspaper that if Niiwo wants, he can stop the introduction and sue Babirye for bigamy.

It is illegal to be married to two different men at ago, she said.

The new man in Babirye’s life is three years older, a pilot by profession and also a first-timer in Parliament.

Before coming to Parliament, he was the LC3 chairperson for Njeru trading centre. Even at Parliament, Musoke is not a common face.

He had a relationship with Lukiya Ntale for over eight years in which they produced three children, a set of five-year-old twins Kato and Babirye Musoke and the first-born, a boy of eight years.

Ntale had warned Babirye against getting married to her husband.

Babirye became close to Musoke in 2016 during campaigns in Buikwe.

Babirye has a daughter with her former husband Niiwo. The couple were wedded at Rubaga Miracle Centre on March 12, 2005.

In January last year, Babirye filed for divorce, citing Niiwo’s cruel, erratic and violent behaviour.
