We must change politics to restore Uganda’s glory-Besigye

Former presidential candidate, Rtd Col Dr Kizza Besigye Kifefe, together with FDC party leadership led by Party President Hon Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi have combed western Uganda to solicit votes for their candidates.

From Nebbi, Besigye returned to Apac Municipality to offer more support to FDC MP aspirant Dr. Okello Ekwaro.

Together with Lango FDC leaders, Besigye and team campaigned in the villages of Agulu and Alyec.

He told the people that while it’s important to vote leaders of integrity like Ekwaro.

He said more focus should be put on changing national politics in order rehabilitate Uganda to restore her lost glory.

In the new Ibanda Municipality constituency, the two leaders campaigned for FDC flag bearers; Mr. Alex Byaruhanga Greatman, aspirant for Ibanda municipality MP, Mr. Arinaitwe Anselm, aspirant for Ibanda Municipality Mayor and Mr. Nyamugabwa Amooti Goldino, as aspirant  for Ibanda District Councillor representing Kagongo Division.

Also on the campaign trail is the Kampala City Lord Mayor Hon. Hajji Erias Lukwago, Kawempe South MP Hon. Munyagwa Mubarak, Rukungiri Municipality MP Hon Roland Mugume Kaginda, FDC National Mobilisation and organisation secretary, Ingrid Turinawe, Dr. Margaret Kasande FDC historical leader in Ibanda as well as FDC Ibanda District leadership led by Chairman Donald Murigye Amony, others.

The FDC chairperson Ibanda district Murigye and chairman taskforce Ibanda Hon Mugume Roland Kaginda thanked the people of Ibanda municipality for turning up in big numbers to support their candidates at different levels in all 3 divisions of Kagongo, Bisheshe and Bufunda.


On Saturday, Besigye and Amuriat spent the day in Kashozi Division campaigning for FDC Aspirant for Sheema Municipality constituency Mrs. Virginia Plan Mugyenyi.

They were escorted by the Leader of Opposition in Parliament who also doubles as Kasese District Woman MP Rt. Hon. Winnie Kiiza, MP Buhweju county Hon.  Mwijukye Francis, Rukungiri District Woman MP Hon. Betty Bamukwatsa Muzanira, former MPs Hon. Oddo Tayebwa and Vicent Mujuni Kyamadidi and Martin Byomuhangi.

They combed villages of Kanekye, Rwanyamukinya, Karera B and others mobilising support for Virginia Ayine Plan ya Sheema.

Mbarara FDC Chairman Stanley Katembeya, DP Vice President Imam Makumbi and lawyer Kamukama were also present at the rallies.

“Speaker after speaker sought to reassure the voters to overcome fear, confront those who intimidate them and ensure they demonstrably show their disgust to NRM misrule and Elioda Tumwesigye’s greed by voting for Virginia Plan,” said Besigye aide, Ronald Muhinda.

They also appealed to voters to resist bribery and other freebies distributed by Elioda Tumwesigye.

But the NRM’s parliamentary candidate for Sheema municipality Elioda Tumwesigye had the support of minister Bright Rwamirama who rallied for votes in the election to be held later this month.
