President Museveni has confirmed his attendance of singer Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool’s “The Golden Heart Concert” scheduled for August 3, 2018 at Kololo airstrip-the Dome.
Bebe who was accompanied by his wife, Zuena Kirema, met the president over the weekend at State House Entebbe and got his confirmation.
“Yes he is coming. It is a sure deal,” Richard Kleberson, Gagamel Phamily administrator, told edge.ug on Sunday night.
He added: “The two talked about the concert and he [Museveni] is so interested.”
edge.ug talked to Bebe Cool and this is what he said of his conversation with the president:
“I [Museveni] am supporting my son [Bebe] because he is not only hardworking but also progressive and consistent.”
Museveni told Bebe Cool that while government has taken huge strides in ensuring that the health system is improved and that there is easier access to medical services by all Ugandans, initiatives like this from all Ugandans are a sign of patriotism.
“I encourage more Ugandans to emulate this young man Bebe Cool.”
Proceeds from Bebe’s concert will go to help children with heart diseases.
“Let me come and enjoy with you young people on this day as a sign of appreciation for the support given to me by entertainment industry,” Museveni confirmed his attendance.
He added: “This industry is employing many young men and women now as a result of the peace and stability that the NRM government put in place. My fellow Ugandans, let us support Bebe Cool on the 3rd August 2018.”
Bebe further told edge.ug that the dome was already under construction along with its side tents.
“This is a VIP event just like it would have been at Serena hotel. It will include a red carpet,” he said.
Museveni and Bebe have had long friendly ties over the years.
On the night of January 30, 2010, there was a shootout at Effendy’s bar, a popular city hangout in the Centenary Park greenbelt, involving Bebe Cool and Goodlyfe Crew.
SPC Alfred Achikane shot Bebe Cool and his two friends, Abbas Kabyobo and Allan Masengere, plus Oluka.
Government compensated Bebe Cool with Shs250m. Museveni personally went to the hospital to visit Bebe.
In 2016, Museveni contracted Bebe and a group of musicians to compose for him a campaign song titled “Tubonga Nawe”.
