Police on Thursday shot and killed the bodyguard of Bugiri Municipality MP contestant, Asuman Basalirwa.
Ramanthan Walyendo, 30, died at Bugiri Hospital of gunshot wounds.
He was shot at a campaign rally held along Saza Road in Bugiri municipality where Basalirwa, a Jeema party candidate, was looking for votes.
Police used brutal force on Basalirwa’s supporters to prevent them from holding a rally at Busoga University playgrounds.
During the scuffle, Walyendo, a Boda Boda rider at Namutumba Stage, was hit in the chest by a stray bullet.
He was first rushed to First Line Medical Centre before transferred to Bugiri Hospital where he breathed his last.
