The lawyers of former Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura are calling on President Museveni to restrain the Internal Security Organization (ISO) from dehumanising their client in the media.

Appearing on NBS television Thursday morning, Jet Tumwebaze of Kampala Associated Advocates, said Kayihura instructed them not to apply for habeas corpus, he believes in the revolution and the struggle.

The he still believes in his commander in chief and the institution of the force and as a disciplined officer, he chose to keep quiet.

“We in-fact wanted to apply for habeas corpus when a week clocked but he instructed us not to,” Tumwebaze said.

He said ISO led by Col Kaka Bagyenda from the start was involved in forgery of evidence, that is what is disturbing Kale Kayihura.

“We have invited the intelligence community to reject this evidence but more is being manufactured by day.”

Tumwebaze said Kayihura who is locked up in Makindye military barracks believes in the military handling of this matter and the people he has been working with are intelligent and can handle this.

“These negative elements aren’t isolated, they are clearly targeted and some media outlets are paid to spread this forgery.”

He added: “We shall give you all the details about this case whenever he instructs us to, for now, he wants the investigations to go on because he knows they will find nothing on him because he is not a criminal.”

Tumwebaze said if ISO is fostering false information about a general, how about an ordinary person?

“People out there should know that Gen. Kale hasn’t been interrogated by anyone, he hasn’t recorded any statement yet.”

He went on: “We are slowly digressing and the commander in chief should confine ISO to work in the confines of the law because their forgery is big and terrible. Forget about Kale, this is bigger.”

Last week, President Museveni sent his son Maj Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to meet Kayihura and tell him he [Museveni] was aware that evidence had been forged to implicate him [Kayihura].
