Six people have been arrested for storming the venue where NRM was having a meeting in Bugiri district.
According to Bugiri DPC Geoffrey Ssebuyungo, the rowdy group raided Savanah hotel shortly after NRM Secretary General Kasule Lumumba arrived.
They planned to end the meeting prematurely, said NRM communications officer, Rogers Mulindwa.
The group mainly comprising young people walked to the venue shouting the slogans supportive of Asuman Basalirwa, the Opposition Jeema candidate in the parliamentary race.
They also carried his posters.
The NRM flag bearer for the same position John Francis Oketcho was among those attending the conference.
Ssebuyungo says the police was forced to fire some bullets to disperse the youth.
He identified those arrested as Bulesa Hassan, Waisswa Khasim, Musobya Sefu, Kakome Paul, Muyindi Kenneth and Nkwanga Hammad.
Four of these are not Bugiri residents and were reportedly ferried from Kampala.
