Ex-NRM rebels declare national shutdown to end Museveni reign – VIDEO

A group of rebels calling themselves the Federal Labour Democrats [FLD] has declared a national shutdown in Uganda reportedly aimed at putting an end to the 32-year long reign of President Museveni.

“Greetings to the people of Uganda in Uganda, South Africa and diaspora,” starts Daniels Juuko Brightish Mazinga, president of the FLD in a social media [WhatsApp] audio message.

The recording declares a national shutdown of Uganda on the July 15 and 16, 2018.

“I request all Ugandans not to operate any work on those days declared. Please stay home don’t move out of houses,” Mazinga appealed.

He said no taxis, no bus, no trucks, no trailers, no places of work or business should operate on Sunday and Monday.

“No universities or learning institutions to open on Monday. They must have closed by Friday and re-open on Tuesday. All schools in Uganda should close until Tuesday July 18, 2018.”

He warned that whoever ignores this call, should not regret the consequences.

“Any employ who accuses any work of not coming to work on Monday, stand warned. We will mark you.”

He said no body will go to the city of Kampala or main towns of Uganda. Only the small shops should open to serve the people.

“This is the beginning of the end of the 32-year Museveni rule. Sit home. Don’t go anywhere and give the government a chance to oppress you with teargas,” he clarified.

Brightish Daniels Juuko Mazinga

“I’m leaving NRM. I’m coming as president of the Republic of Uganda 2021 under FLD Federal Labour Democrats, enough is enough,” Mazinga tweeted on March 31, 2018.

According to his twitter handle @BrightishDanie1, Mazinga calls himself an accomplished multi-specialist multidisciplinary academician, based in Pretoria, South Africa.

On April 6, 2018, he tweeted: “The Great dictator Y. M7 is life president, can’t United States, NATO, South Africa, Nigeria come to rescue Uganda out of this dictatorship.”

He added: “Uganda ruled by a military junta for long, with impunity, looting state resources, oppression+undermining human rights. YK.M7 must end now.”

‏On April 2, 2018, he tweeted: “Nonmatter how much blessing, the politics of Uganda is too bad, stinks, NRM failed solve the problems that led them to the bush.”

Brightish Daniels Mazinga a Uganda nation residing in South Africa is one of the most educated people in Africa and also in the world, is also a Director General and Senior Lecturer – ‎Bridmaz University Education Services.

MPs panic

Earlier, Members of Parliament raised concern over Mazinga’s threats of insecurity and rebellion circulating on social media, saying that this has thrown the country into panic.

The concern was raised by Gulu Municipality MP, Hon. Lyandro Komakech during the plenary sitting on Wednesday, 11 July 2018, noting that people in northern Uganda had raised complaints of an impending attack.

The message also advises all citizens to stock assortments of food in their houses and not move out.

He called on the Ministry of Defence to present a statement on the state of security in the country saying that such threats were dangerous to Ugandans.

Nwoya County MP, Hon. Simon Oyet added that the threat that went viral on social media via an audio recording posted on Whatsapp, had caused residents in Nwoya to relocate.

“Some of our people have already sold their property and animals with some coming back to Karuma in fear of the war,” Oyet said.

Security minister dismisses the threats

Security Minister Gen Elly Tumwine urged Ugandans to ignore messages on social media threatening instability.

In a brief off-the-cuff remarks to Parliament on Thursday, 12 July 2018, Tumwine said such threats amount to nothing.

“Threatening of the public is not good; Ugandans are safe, the security of the country is in the hands of the agencies that are assigned by the Constitution,” he said.

Gen Tumwine was expected to make a formal statement on the state of security in the country, together with his Defence and Internal Affairs counterparts Adolf Mwesige and Gen Jeje Odongo.
