Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has fined his son-in-law Andile Ramaphosa, the son of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, for fathering a child with his niece before exchanging marriage vows.
Ramaphosa spent Saturday at Mbabazi’s home in Kololo where the introduction ceremony took place.
He has been dating Mbabazi’s niece Bridget Birungi Rwakairu for years and even has a child with her.
Ramaphosa who was accompanied by his mother Hope Ramaphosa, South African High Commissioner and city businessman Charles Mbire, was asked to pay a goat as compensation for prematurely “eating the forbidden fruit”.
Birungi’s side was represented by Amos Nzeyi, Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda, businessman Gordon Wavahmunno, Mathew Rukikaire, Hope Mwesigye and Brig. Timothy Mutebile, the brother to Bank of Uganda Governor Tumusiime Emmanuel Mutebile.
According to reports, Birungi’s relatives asked 100 South African cows as dowry.
