The Deputy Inspector General of Police Brig Sabiiti Muzeeyi has commended the Uganda Police Force construction unit.
The DIGP was inspecting and touring the newly constructed state of the art Nateete Police Station in Rubaga division Kampala district.
“I must say am extremely happy to see this very beautiful structure but most importantly that it has been done by our own police construction unit, With this force I think we shall be able to solve most of the challenging tasks we have especially accommodation for our troops. I’m sure we have a lot ideas that can help solve our administration problems like minor renovations,” said the DIGP.
He added “We were mandated by policy and administration committee of police to visit this area and look at the possibility of sharing , look at it, then assess the environment because we really have a serious need for space so the police authority will seat back, brainstorm and come up with apposition.”
“It’s very good to disclose what we have done. The public is very quick at pointing figures at good things they never know how some of you are doing some great job. Just look at this wonderful internally done work. I can’t imagine this is police, these are things that we should internally feel proud of. Police has a lot of educated human resource. We need to utilize this human resource.”
In his address, the Deputy Director Logistics and Engineering Richard Edyegu noted that “this structure is one of the many structures that have completed all the country by the police construction unit”.
“Natete police complex started in 2010 after the former station was burnt down during the 2009 Buganda riots, the construction started as an executive order from His Excellency the President and was done in-house by the UPF construction unit,” SCP Edyegu noted.
The structure is to house Natete police division headquarters and in addition it can be utilized to house other directorates and departments.
The three storeyed structure covers a total of 4113 square meters and half times bigger than the current police headquarters offices with about 100 offices.
It has 05 self-contained detention facilities, a canteen and an ample parking space and its estimated to have cost about 7.8 billion shillings.
