Uganda’s netball team [She Cranes] has claimed the sixth place at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Uganda’s spirited performance was not enough to overcome a superb all round performance from South Africa.
It ended 53-42 with South Africa finishing 5th as Uganda settled for 6th place.
The She Cranes of Uganda bowed out of the 2018 Commonwealth Games after the Thursday defeat by Africa’s top ranked the SPAR Proteas.
Goal attack Stella Oyella scored 22 of her 25 chances while team captain and goal scorer Peace Proscovia buried all her 19 chances.
The two African nations finished third in their respective preliminary round groups: Uganda in Pool B and South Africa in Pool A.
South Africa’s Ine-Mari Venter scored 42 goals while her teammate Maryka Holtzhausen scored 11.
This was Uganda’s first ever participation at the Games (netball).
