Police tails conman fleecing UN job seekers

Police is investigating a city conman who has been fleecing money from unsuspecting citizens promising them United Nations [UN] jobs.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire, says they have received information about a one Aggrey Oumo claiming to be a staff of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

He keeps inviting his unsuspecting victims for a job interview at Kololo using a phone contact 0394896847 (not registered).

He requests for 5 passport size photographs, testimony, certificate of good conduct from Interpol and to pay thru mobile money number 0758304660 registered in the names of Moses Ntale.

“The Public is hereby warned that; (a) UNHCR does not require certificate of good conduct or photos for their job interviews (b) that no UN Agency requires money ahead of a job interview,” Luke said.

He added: “Treat these calls as scam as our team does all that is necessary to apprehend the culprit.”

Recently, employees of MTN Uganda were arrested for helping scammers duplicate sim cards and con ministers as well as Members of Parliament huge sums of money.
