One of URA vehicles on fire

UPDF soldiers attached to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) have shot two people in an operation to impound motorcycles without license plates in Yumbe district.

This happened after URA enforcement officers reportedly killed a boda boda rider while forcing him into their car.

He was reportedly hit by a door of the URA car in the process of impounding his motorcycle on Tuesday evening.

The chaos

On Wednesday morning, cyclists barricaded Yumbe-Arua and Yumbe-Moyo roads prompting the army to engage them.

In the ensuing chaos, soldiers fatally shot two people.

The mob responded by setting URA vehicles on fire.
