The NRM Party says it is in receipt of information that the opposition is planning to cause havoc in Jinja East Constituency before, during and after elections this Thursday.
The launch of their mission was on Tuesday afternoon when a group of young people, some dressed in FDC T-shirts hit and smashed the screens of official yellow mini buses (coasters) ferrying members to the rally venue.
“Some of our members escaped with injuries by broken glasses and the flying stones,” said Rogers Mulindwa, NRM communications officer.
“The party members and the public at large are therefore reminded to be vigilant in identifying and reporting any individual(s) engaging themselves in acts that may destabilise the electoral process.”
He further urged them to remain calm and continue focussing on the prime goal of winning this by-elections as the security agencies continue playing their role.
Meanwhile, NRM has officially reported to police the sad incident in which the vehicles were damaged.
The drivers Odokonyero Francis (AUX 712X) and Katushabe Patrick (AUX 036Q) recorded their statements at Jinja Central Police Ststion this morning.
The injured members are already on treatment.
“The victory is in our sight and we should collectively work towards attaining it.”
