MP Twinamasiko apologises for telling men to beat women

MP Twinamatsiko [M] has apologised for asking men to beat women

Hon Onesimus Twinamasiko has apologized to the house, the entire country and all women for the video that has been circulating on social media, where he said women need to be streamlined with beating.

He says he meant some other kind of beating.

Female Members of Parliament on Tuesday tasked the Bugangaizi legislator to apologise to Ugandans over his women battering remarks which insinuate that he was inciting gender-based violence.

Twinamatsiko is in the spotlight over statements of beating women which he said is a way of disciplining them.

MPs asked that all his statements be withdrawn during a Wednesday plenary sitting which he did.

Hon. Azairwe Dorothy and Hon. Atim Joy Ongom demanded that the legislator apologises to the women and the country.

Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah told the MP to return with a statement of personal explanation or else be handed over to the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association.
