As part of her two week campaign strategy in Jinja, NRM Secretary General Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba has succeeded in a number of activities including luring opposition leaders into the ruling party.

The main convert is Mr. Robert Kanusu a former UPC Chairperson in Jinja district whom she officially introduced to the National Party Chairperson and President, H.E Yoweri Museveni at a rally on Tuesday.

“As you work with the opposition at the National level, we have also been working with several non NRM members in these campaigns “, said the SG before inviting Kasunu for a presidential hand shake amidst wild cheers from the mammoth crowd.

At the end of his address,  the National Chairperson invited Kanusu to speak to the gathering and he publicly  confessed joining the ruling party.

“I have made up my mind to join NRM and I am ready to work for it and for my country as an NRM person”, he said.

Kanusu was Go-Forward coordinator for the entire Eastern Region in the 2016 General Elections.

According to Rogers Mulindwa, the NRM Communications Officer, Kanusu commands a good following in Jinja and had contested two times for the LCV seat finishing second.

He also once served as Press Secretary to then UPC President Prof. Olala Otunu.

President Museveni welcomed Kanusu and others to NRM and called upon the party members to work with them harmoniously.

Commenting about this milestone achievement, SG Lumumba said such operations will continue country-wide to broaden the party membership.
