Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court has charged former Bubulo West MP Tonny Kipoi with alleged trafficking of 20 Ugandans to Congo and remanded him to Luzira prison.
Prosecution alleges that Kipoi together with Silas Opejo and Patrick Engorit [information Technology specialists] committed the offenses in April 2013 in the district of Bukedea.
Kipoi and his personal assistant Robert Kitale were arrested last week in Botswana and deported back to Uganda where he was detained at Nalufenya detention centre in Jinja district.
They are accused of fraudulently obtaining money from people while disguised as native doctors.
On Friday, Nakawa chief magistrate Jameson Karemani read charges to Kipoi who pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate remanded him to Luzira until the 16th March 2018. He will return to court for bail application and mentioning of the case.
