A military truck belonging to Uganda People’s Defence Forces [UPDF] on Wednesday knocked a car at Nakawa near spear motors.
According to Nabude, a traffic police officer, the UPDF truck was trying to overtake to avoid traffic jam.
The driver of the car reportedly knocked by the army truck told a Daily Monitor reported: “When they (the army truck driver) crashed me and the police women saw it, they called unto them to go to the inspection centre ahead. They just laughed at the women and drove off, heading to Banda.”
Army spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire, said it was unfortunate such incident happened.
“And we condemn such acts depicted. It will be investigated and the culprit brought to book. Let the affected person reach out to us for further management of the matter. It is advisable he comes up with such pictures for identification,” he explained.
Karemire said the driver involved in the accident has been arrested and disciplinary action will take place.
“Once again apologies as we await to engage with the victim.”
