Moses Balyeku (Jinja West) is vigorously drumming support for his Jinja East former rival Igeme Nabeta ahead of the by-election.
Balyeku and Nabeta were recently reconciled during the NRM leaders’ meeting presided over by the National Party Chairman and President Rtd. Gen. Yoweri Museveni at the Civil Service College in Jinja Municipality.
Nabeta was Tuesday duly nominated to run again in the race for the MP seat he lost.
“Our candidate Igeme Nathan Nabeeta was duly nominated earlier this morning,” Balyeku said on social media.
Nabeta pledged to fulfil and serve in line with the NRM manifesto.
“Our unity and full support will ensure an unquestionable win,” Balyeku added.
He added: “Vote NRM for the Jinja East parliamentary seat.”
NRM Secretary General Justine Lumumba was also present to drum support for Nabeta.
Earlier, Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] candidate, Paul Mwiru, was nominated to run in the Jinja East MP by-election.
Nabeta was recently kicked out of parliament by the Court of Appeal in Kampala.
Three justices including former deputy chief Justice Steven Kavuma, Richard Buteera and Paul Mugamba then ordered the Electoral Commission to organise fresh elections to fill the post that they has declared vacant.
The same court also ordered Nabeta and the electoral commission to pay costs to Mwiru for both the Court of Appeal and in the High Court.
