Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, the chairperson of the commission of inquiry into land matters, has ordered for the arrest of a senior police officer for conniving with a minister to grab land.
ASP Guston Twinamatsiko, the officer in charge of Buikwe police station, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly aiding the junior water minister Ronald Kibuule to torture people in Buikwe District.
The affected people reside in Kigaya village in Buikwe District.
Twinamatsiko helped Kibuule and a one Musa Katerega to evict and torture Bibanja holders leading to the death of Dickson Waswa who refused to sell his plot of land.
Wasswa was beaten by police on the orders of ASP Twinamasiko for calling a village meeting to reject fraudulent offers made by minister Kibuule.
“It’s not safe for the people of Buikwe to have a hyena like you presiding over meat (land),” Bamugemereire is quoted telling the cop.
