Police on Monday engaged unemployed youth in running battles across Kampala suburbs in a major protest against increasing unemployment.
The angry youth blocked roads in Wandegeya, Bwaise and Kawempe protesting the rising cost of living and joblessness in the country.
Proclaiming the country as belonging to all Ugandans, the youth used tree branches and other flammable materials to block roads entering the Central Business District prompting police to engage them.
Police deployed heavily and engaged them in running battles.
The officers managed to arrest at least six of them, quelling the protest.
The youth were protesting what they call negligence by the Central government which has left their area wanting in service delivery.
