KCCA arrests butchers over chemicals in meat

Kampala Capital City Authority [KCCA] Health Inspectors working with police have arrested two butchers from Ntinda for putting chemicals in meat.

The suspects are Joseph Kayondo and a one Ssekabila.

“They were arrested today after our Public Health Inspectors found a concoction of chemicals being used at their butcheries in Ntinda,” KCCA said in a statement.

The authority is conducting a joint operation with the Uganda National Bureau of Standards [UNBS] on butcheries across the city.

The inspectors are checking the hygienic state of the meat and the butchers, structural standards of these butcheries as well as investigating meat preservation mechanisms.

The operation is a fact-finding mission and to check the compliance of butcheries with the required Public Health Standards.
