Rwandan MP Ngoga elected Eala Speaker

Hon. Ngoga Martin has been elected Speaker of the fourth Assembly of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Ngoga was up against candidates Hon. Kimbisa Adam from Tanzania and Hon. Nzeyimana Leontine from Burundi.

He polled 36 votes in the Tuesday election.

Members had earlier objected to the vote referring of the issue to the Summit of Heads of State.

The Council of Ministers advised the August House to consult with the Summit on the decision of the Election of the Speaker.

Hon. Martin Ngoga, a Rwandan MP was this year elected to the FIFA Congress as the Deputy Chairman of the Ethics Committee-Investigatory chamber.

Hon. Ngoga, a former Prosecutor General and staunch Mukura VS supporter alongside other members in the Ethics Committee were elected for a term of office of four years, effective immediately.
