NBS television took the evening winning several awards at The Media Challenge Awards 2017 held at Serena hotel in Kampala.
The #NBSFrontline programme which usually features Miria Matembe, Norbert Mao, Ofwono Opondo and other politicians won “The Best Talk show” award.
“#NBSFrontline is fresh, illuminating, cerebral. Often rumbustious, grandiloquent, pugnacious. Also hilarious, uproarious, side-splitting,” Mao said in response to the award.
Nile Post, barely four months in existence, won the “News Website of the Year Award”.
NBS TV further won ‘Best Social Media Utilisation’ award and ‘Best Live Event Coverage’ award.
NTV won the “Best TV of the year”, “Best Humorous News Concept”, “Best Luganda Anchor and The Rosemary Nankabirwa Award.
Capital FM radio’s “The Capital Gang” won “Best Radio Talk Show of the Year”.
Bbale Francis won the “Best English Anchor of The Year” award, Paul Kiyonga received his accolade of ‘Best Political Reporter (English)’.
Winner of ‘English Reporter’ came from Makerere University and winner of ‘Political Reporter (English)’ came from St. Lawrence University.
Danny Kyazze was the “Best Male Radio News Anchor” while Prof. Goretti Nasanga received the “Lifetime Achievement Award”.
